Executives for the Las Vegas Sands Corporation are convinced that any city on earth would make a spectacular vacation resort destination with the addition of an integrated resort, similar to the Las Vegas strip. By adding a strip of hotels, restaurants and casinos, the Las Vegas Sands executives claim that they can boost tourism in many nations by as much as 100% in some cases. The point that executives are making is that international travelers generally will not travel for gambling alone, but when combined with other amenities in an area such as the Las Vegas strip or Atlantic City, where a tremendous amount of features can be found in a very small area with minimal travel time from establishment to establishment, gambling can be quite lucrative and generate a tremendous amount of income for the local economy. In Thailand, there has been some discussion with ministers there about opening integrated resorts and super casinos that would benefit the local economy with tourism dollars from those who travel abroad and visit such spectacular areas as the Las Vegas strip where famous Las Vegas hotels, Las Vegas attractions and Las Vegas shows are the order of the day and feature all types of amenities to bring tourists from far and near to stay in the area and spend money.
This focus on getting tourists to the area with liberal amounts of cash to spend is the entire purpose behind this international drive by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation to construct massive, integrated structures that allow restaurants, hotels and casinos to intermingle, rather than introducing small casinos in small areas around the world. By combining all these features rather than offering separate facilities, these super casinos and integrated structures can attract all manner of international tourism dollars and take advantage of the decentralized nature of Las Vegas style gambling. In Las Vegas, the casino is located in the center of the hotel, and guests must walk through it to arrive at the elevators to their room. This type of mentality is what creates such tremendous profits in the integrated structures, where traveling from one shopping district to the next requires passing by a tremendous amount of available slot machines, blackjack tables and roulette wheels.
Where ever governments are friendly to gaming and gambling institutions, the Las Vegas Sands is looking forward to expanding in the area and providing a strong financial backbone for the local economy to gambling and tourism.
